Japanese hiphop
As Professor was saying in the class, Hiphop culture is very different.
Japanese hiphop is mainly "party hiphop", including RIP SLYME
(you can listen to their songs from above site)
It is very different, more melodic, peaceful and happier.
Some rappers do sing about oppressed background and anger etc.
Zeebra is probably the most famous among them.
One of his song was about descrimination against Japanese (Never Enuff)
I think it would be better to create categories to differenciate them,
However, most of these rappers including Zeebra sings party-tunes, too.

I'm not sure about Minimoni because i'm bit outdated now, but I know that Orangerange is doing fake-rap-ish thing and many other like Arashi and KA-TUN.
Japan is thought to be most "Americanized" part of Asia.(the term Americanized.. as we discussed in class, only means imported and non-original in this context). However, a lot of signs are misunderstood and used differently from its original contexts. The west side sign must have been one of them, the kid probably had no idea but just because it was 'cool' and 'everyone else did it'.
