Welcome to ANT 323
Hi,
If you've come this far then you may be interested in taking ANT 323 with me this summer and if so I would like to welcome you. The course web site is now ready and will hopefully answer all your questions. It tells you how to get in touch with me, too.
There are two very common questions though that I would like to answer right here and now.
1) Will the course be similar to the course taught in by Prof. Danesi? I think not. (A shame, since people really enjoy his teaching, but I can 't be him!)
2) Can I take this course if I don't have the prerequisites? Sorry, absolutely not. The prerequisites are just that: courses to take before this one. This also means that to qualify as a prerequisite, the course should not be taken concurrently with ANT 323 (i.e. this summer), but should have been completed before. The prerequisites are very broad: any second year course in anthropology or sociology that you have completed qualifies as a prerequisite.
See you in class,
Ivan Davidson Kalmar
